Valentina began to scan dead animals and experimenting with scanography at the beginning of 2000 She has recently started to work with this medium again and her latest work SMALL DEATHS was exhibited at the GUM museum as part of DARK EXHIBITION (2023) in  Gent, Belgium.

SMALL DEATHS 

black & white, 1997-2023

This series is a collection of dead little animals deceased by natural causes, possibly killed by disease, by predators or stillborn. Arranged on the bed of a scanner, they appear ethereal and peaceful, as if sleeping.
